I'm 40 + years old and I'm having difficulty reading, what is happening?
Presbyopia: a condition where, with age, the crystalline lens inside the eyes is unable to sustain a change in convexity. Therefore, it is unable to sustain focus at near distances. Early symptoms may include eyestrain, blurring at closer focal distances, and needing more light to increase contrast at closer focal distances. Distance viewing abilities can go unchanged despite declining near viewing abilities. Corrective lenses (glasses and contact lenses) provide the desired range of vision correction after the natural capability to focus declines. The optical industry is constantly improving the designs and streamlined use of these corrective lenses.
