How often should I get my eyes examined?
Annual Exams are recommended. Age, health and risk affect the frequency for having eye exams. Every physician has a regimen they recommend; Dr. Dold recommends the following eye exam regimen.
InfantSEE
Even if no eye or vision problems are apparent, the American Optometric Association recommends scheduling your baby's first eye assessment at 6 months.
Preschool-age Children
Comprehensive eye exams are usually performed again between the ages of 3 and 5.
School-Age Children & Adolescents
Comprehensive eye examinations are recommended annually.
Adults
Annual exams are a good rule of thumb. However, if your eye health and vision is good use the following regimen:
18-40 Years Old: Every 1-2 years
41-60 Years Old: Every 1-2 years
>61 Years Old: Every year
Dr. Dold may make recommendations for more frequent evaluations based on exam findings.
